ProSolo Finale Notes

The final round of SCCA's ProSolo series was held in Topeka, KS on September 7th and 8th. Known as the ProSolo Finale, this event is a gathering place for all ProSolo competitors in the hunt for their respective class championship. In addition, the overall Peavy Super Challenge Championship is decided, as is the Ladies Challenge Championship, and Honda Street Challenge Championship.

Howard Duncan, SCCA's Solo II Guru, designed a course that looked simple at first glance, but required drivers to hold a fine line and hit every braking point, apex, and corner exit perfectly. With such incredible competition in each class, someone was bound to hit the marks perfectly, so competitors concentrated on getting fast, clean runs.

In addition to the tight class competition, the overall ProSolo Championship was won by John Ames and his Super Stock Corvette ZO6, clinching the title over fellow ZO6 pilot Eric Strelniecks. John was an overwhelmingly popular winner, receiving a standing ovation at the awards ceremony for his outstanding performance.

In the Ladies Challenge Round, Patty Tunnell - driving Victor Michael's D-Stock BMW 330Ci - won the Finale round and clinched the Ladies Championship over Laura Molleker (ZO-6) and Yvonne Short (Mini.) The Honda Street Challenge Final - pitting top finishers from STS, STX, and SM in a sixteen car shootout - saw Dennis Grant's boosted Eagle Talon take the win over Keith Casey and Kiko Seibt, both driving STX class Subaru WRXs.
